Why the QR code market needed disrupting

Dynamic QR codes — codes you can update the destination of after printing — are a useful utility. They should cost very little.

Yet most of the established QR services in 2026 are priced like enterprise SaaS: $30-$100+/month for what amounts to a URL redirect with a tracking dashboard. Some lock high scan volumes behind paywalls. Some restrict the number of dynamic codes you can have. A few of them quietly own your QR destinations and have been known to monetise the redirects when customers churn.

QR codes are infrastructure. Infrastructure should be cheap, fair, and ownable. So we built QR Stack.

The principles we built around

  • No scan caps. Pay for what you use, not for the privilege of being scanned. Your viral campaign doesn't become a surprise bill.
  • Generous free tier. If you need 5 dynamic codes and a few hundred scans a month, you should be able to use QR Stack without paying anything.
  • Real analytics, not vanity metrics. Scan locations, times, devices, referrers — the data that actually helps you improve campaigns.
  • White-label ready. Agencies and resellers can rebrand QR Stack as their own offering. Your customers see your brand, not ours.
  • You own the destinations. If you ever leave, your QR codes don't become billboards for our upsells. We don't do that.
  • Honest pricing page. The thing you see is the thing you pay. No "contact us for enterprise."

What QR Stack does

  • Static QR codes — for when the destination won't change (a permanent URL, a contact card, a wifi password)
  • Dynamic QR codes — for when you want to update the destination after print. Change campaigns, fix typos, swap landing pages.
  • Branded customisation — colours, logos, frames, call-to-action text. The QR codes match your brand, not a generic black-and-white square.
  • Real-time analytics — total scans, by location, by device, by time, by referrer. Export when you need to.
  • Bulk operations — generate hundreds of codes at once, with bulk CSV import for campaigns where every code points somewhere different.
  • REST API — for the developers integrating QR generation into other systems
  • White-label — for agencies who want to offer QR codes as part of their service stack

Who uses it

  • SMB marketing teams running campaigns that bridge print and digital
  • Events and conferences with check-ins, agendas, and post-event surveys
  • Retailers linking physical product to extended content (manuals, videos, registration)
  • Agencies offering QR campaigns as part of broader marketing engagements
  • Restaurants and hospitality with menus, ordering, and loyalty
  • Anyone who needed dynamic QR codes for a small project and discovered the market wanted $30/month for what should cost a few dollars

The utility-pricing principle

The deeper point about QR Stack: utilities should be priced like utilities. A QR code redirect is a small, well-understood piece of infrastructure. It shouldn't cost more than your domain registration.

Pricing utilities like enterprise software is a strategy that works as long as no one undercuts it. We undercut it. The maths still works because QR redirects genuinely are cheap to operate at scale — most QR services know this; they just price for what the market will bear.

What this tells you about how Stacksy works

QR Stack is what happens when we see a software category that's been left lazy by lack of competition. We watched the same complaint from too many small businesses — "I just need to update a QR code for a poster, why does that cost $40/month?" — and built the answer.

If your sector has a similar shape — a software category that's overpriced and underloved because the incumbents stopped innovating — that's the kind of problem we look at and want to solve.
